NCAA Football Gambling: Maryland Terrapins Betting Odds

Maryland wanted change, and Maryland will get change this season. After finishing 9-4 with a bowl win, the Terps’ administrative decision makers tossed aside head coach Ralph Friedgen and hired Connecticut head coach Randy Edsall. Maryland flirted with former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, which caused a stir near the Chesapeake Bay and might have caused MLB baseball betting pundits to dream about the possibility that Maryland football would become more interesting than the Baltimore Orioles.

The biggest reason to recommend Edsall is that he lifted Connecticut from the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) to a Big East championship during his tenure in New England. Now Edsall inherits a team that has failed to threaten for ACC hardware since 2003. Read more here…

Stock to Watch: Sportingbet

(Interactive Investor)- Sportingbet (SBT), a leading online sports betting and gaming provider in Europe and Australia, is one such example.

Its shares are listed in the FTSE Small Cap index, although this is quite a substantive company capitalised over £350 million, expected to grow normalised pre-tax profit from £31.4 million in the last financial year to end-July 2010, to over £37 million in the current year and over £45 million in 2011/12. If achieved, then the shares' forward price-earnings multiple is a modest 8.5 times and there is a prospective yield of about 3.4% covered nearly four times by earnings.

Sportingbet also enjoys firm support among City brokers, with Company REFS showing near-unanimous 'buy' advice in June. Read more here…

NCAAF Betting Tips: The science of returning starters

(Andrew Lange)- The raw number of returning starters can have a significant impact on the perception some bettors have on a particular team. For example, returning 15 or more starters is considered by most to be a “positive” whereas anything below 11 raises concerns about lack of experience. But like anything in the world of sports betting, raw numbers don’t often paint an accurate picture. In this particular case, we as bettors must first create our own criteria for what constitutes a legitimate returning starter and what doesn’t. Read more here…

Sports Betting By The Numbers: July 20th, 2011

(Sportsbook Gurus)- The NBA released their 2011-12 schedule on Tuesday afternoon, despite the league and players currently in a lockout. Outward reports indicate that the two sides are very far apart in their differences, and it will take a lot of debate and meetings to determine whether or not will be a season in 2011. Of course, that did not stop the NBA from releasing the schedule, with some marquee match ups to tip off of the season including the defending champion Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks will open up the NBA season on Tuesday night Nov. 1 against the Chicago Bulls. In a double-header, the Lakers will face the Oklahoma City Thunder following the Mavs and Bulls. But it’s the Miami Heat that remain the betting favorite on NBA Futures Odds at Bodog Sportsbook to win the 2012 NBA Championship, with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and company installed at 5/2 on the online sportsbook.
